The research has been conducted since 01.03.2022- in the Department of Industrial and Food Microbiology at the Faculty of Food Science of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.The data were collected as part of a research project: "Stress response in Staphylococcus aureus: effects on entetotoxicity and methicillin resistance under stress conditions relevant to artisanal cheese production", funded by the National Science Center under the PRELUDIUM-20 project (project number: 2021/41/N/NZ9/00918). The dataset includes: A_1_main_characteristics – Raw data defining the nature of S. aureus strains from the arisanal cheese production chain in Poland. The data include MICs results of antibiotics, determination of slime production ability, biofilm production and raw data on the occurrence of genetic determinants among S. aureus strains. A_2_raw_genomes - The collection contains the genomes of S. aureus strains in .fasta files. Sequencing was performed with a MiSeq sequencer, using paired-end technology, 2x300nt, using the MiSeq Reagent Kit v3 (600-cycle) (Illumina),
