Geological Antarctic Field Notebook - David Trail #13

David Trail worked as a geologist with the Bureau of Mineral Resources (BMR), the predecessor organisation of Geoscience Australia from 1958-1970 and 1978-1994. This series of field notebooks are written during Dave's second trip to Antarctica in the summer of 1965. David’s first expedition to Antarctica was a year long trip to Mawson Base from January 1961 to March 1962. On this trip he was a member of the first party to ascend Mount Menzies on 19th December 1961. The Trail Glacier and Mount Trail are named in David’s honour and reflect the important contribution he made to Antarctic geoscience.
