Evaluate the Efficacy of Selected Microorganism through biodegradation studies

In the pot experiment, the degradation efficiency of bacterial and fungal isolates on low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films was evaluated by measuring weight loss. LDPE films of two thicknesses, 25 microns and 40 microns, were treated with pure microbial strains and microbial consortia over intervals of 6 and 9 months. Weight loss was determined using the formula: [(Initial weight - Final weight) / Initial weight] × 100.
For FTIR analysis, both untreated and treated LDPE samples were examined using Origin 2019b (64-bit) software. Data for the study was collected in Gondar City between 2022 and 2023.
