A method of manufacturing a composite element. The method includes locating two layers of non-woven textile on opposite sides of an intermediate element. Each of the two layers includes a plurality of filaments， and the plurality of filaments includes a first thermoplastic polymer material. The method further includes heating and compressing the layers and the intermediate element， thereby heatbonding the layers to the opposite sides of the intermediate element and heatbonding the two layers to each other around at least a portion of a perimeter of the intermediate element.
