Rock abrasiveness is one of the primary factors affecting the wear of rock cutting tools, and it is usually quantified by the CERCHAR Abrasiveness Index (CAI). Researchers and engineers study tool wear and predict tool service life based on the CAI of rocks. However, there is still a lack of datasets related to rock properties, especially the abrasiveness of various rock types. In this paper, we report an abrasion dataset of 10 types of rocks including sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks, collected via CERCHAR abrasiveness tests and digital measurement techniques. This dataset covers rock abrasiveness data, visualized point cloud data, scratch photographs, force data from CERCHAR abrasiveness tests, and the mechanical properties (uniaxial compressive strength) of rock samples. This dataset will facilitate future research on rock abrasiveness and the wear of rock cutting tools.
