Lake Okeechobee Littoral Vegetation (1994-1995)

This polygon feature class defines the extent and type of exotic and native littoral vegetation within the western marsh portion of Lake Okeechobee between Clewiston and the Kissimmee River circa 1994 -1995. These data were mapped to establish baseline conditions for documenting the efficacy of vegetation management efforts. This baseline data will be used to evaluate successional change in native and exotic macrophytes. Vegetation communities were mapped through stereoscopic interpretation of color infrared (CIR) using aerial photography flown in 1994 and 1995 at 1:12000 scale. The Moore Haven and parts of Fisheating Bay approaching the Indian Prairie marsh were flown in 1994 and the Indian Prairie marsh was flown mostly in 1995.
