Aim of this study was to monitor differentially expressed gene signatures of human first trimester villous cytotrophoblasts (vCTBs) undergoing spontaneous differentiation into syncytiotrophoblasts (STB). Overall design: Villous cytotrophoblasts (vCTB) were isolated from of first trimester human pooled placentas (6-7th weeks of gestation), seeded onto fibronectin-coated cell culture dishes and analyzed after 20 and 72 hours. Examination of gene expression signatures of fusing cytorophoblasts was performed by Next Generation sequencing, the analyses contain in total 6 samples, 3 replicates of 3 individual cell preparations.
