Esri recommends updating your maps and apps to use the new version. Salinity is the quantity of dissolved salt in water. Marine life have a limited range of salinity that they can live in. Open ocean seawater typically has a salinity of 32 to 37. Temperature and salinity characteristics help determine origin of water masses.
