Geochemical characteristics, stable sulfur isotope values and potential microbial activities in deep hydrothermal sediment of Guaymas Basin

We compiled the concentrations of methane, sulfate, and sulfide, the contents of total organic carbon (TOC), total sulfur (TS), acid volatile sulfur (AVS), elemental sulfur (ES), chromium reducible sulfur (CRS) and reactive iron, the δ³⁴S values of sulfate and pyrite, and the rates of sulfate reduction (SRR) and anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) in deep hydrothermal subseafloor sediments of Guaymas Basin. Sediment samples were recovered in 2019 on the drilling vessel <i>JOIDES</i> <i>Resolution</i> during the International Ocean Discovery Program Expedition 385 (IODP 385; Guaymas Basin Tectonics and Biosphere). The methane, sulfate, sulfide, TOC and TS data were obtained from the IODP database at https://web.iodp.tamu.edu/OVERVIEW/.
