An experiment was conducted to evaluate and compare the varietal difference of mulberry on the growth and development of bivoltine silkworm J1 for biological and commercial character expression in Sericulture Development Centre in Khopasi, Kavrepalanchowk in Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Larvae of silkworm (J1) were fed on mulberry varieties Kanva, Victoia-01, S-36, S-54, and LN-40. Observations on the dimension of different instars of silkworm Bombyx mori and yield parameter were observed.Mulberry variety Victoia-1 was found significantly superior in matured larva weight (37.69) while highest pupal weight (12.75 g) was found in the Kanva-2 variety. In terms of commercial parameters: highest cocoon weight (168.0750g), cocoon shell weight (40.5375g) was observed in Kanva while in case of cocoon shell ratio (25.313%), filament length (1094.585), filament weight (2.79675g) and denier (2.297g) highest number was observed in Victoia-01. The result of the study indicates that mulberry variety Victoia-1 was found best performer in relation to different parameters; Larvae weight, cocoon weight, cocoon shell ratio, filament length, filament weight and denier. Variety Kanva-2 was recorded next best performers in terms of pupae weight, cocoon weight and shell weight. Victoia-1and Kanva-2 mulberry varieties supported good growth and development of silkworm larvae which were par to eachother in terms of performance, biological and commercial parameters. Such mulberry variety can be recommended for more trials at the field level for farmers and could be ex-ploited for commercial purpose in different region for sustainable growth and development of sericulture industry.
