资源简介:
The Central Roads Board created in 1853, the first agency concerned with the establishment of main roads and bridges, was abolished on 1 January 1858 and succeeded by the Department of Roads and Bridges (VA 2964) which operated under the statutory control of the Board of Land and Works (VA 744).Meetings of the Board of Land and Works (VA 744) concerned with Roads and Bridges required two members only to be present. Membership of the Board for these matters consisted of the President or Vice-President, the Commissioner of Public Works, the Surveyor-General and the Commissioner of Roads and Bridges who, from April 1858, acted as the presiding officer. This series consists of the pro forma upon which matters to be discussed by the Board were summarised for presentation to the Board. Details included the Office Number (of the piece of inwards registered correspondence), Name (of the correspondent) a summary of the subject of the matter, the Amount for which Authority is now sought (for matters concerned with payments), the Recommendation (of the responsible officer of the Department of roads and Bridges) and the Decision (of the Board). From 1866, space on the pro forma allowed for the entering of the names of the members of the Board present at the Board meeting at which the matters were dealt with.Further reference to information regarding these matters may be made to VPRS 4691 Minutes.
