资源简介:
This legacy dataset includes digitized ground temperatures from four borehole sites in Utqiagvik, Alaska. The data were measured by scientists from the Naval Arctic Research Laboratory (NARL) on a weekly to biweekly frequency spanning 1950 to 1961. The datasets include ground temperatures at approximately 15-24 depth increments down to 60-110 ft (28-33 m) (with higher measurement resolution near the surface), as well as climatological data such as snow depth, thaw depth, wind speed, and wind direction. Descriptions of weather conditions (including cloud cover) are also available. Each borehole site spans a different array of depths and measurement dates, as well as a unique geologic terrain. The raw data file for each site shows the original data (generally in imperial units) without any corrections applied or outliers removed. A calibration table is available for each site, which enables the user to convert the raw resistance values to the calibrated and corrected temperatures. The clean version of the data for each site has completed this task (subtracted the test thermistor resistance, converted resistance to temperature, and added any ice bath temperature correction values); it shows all calibrated and corrected measurements (in metric units), and has been inspected to remove clear outliers. The original scans of the archive records are bundled into a pdf for each site along with a modern photo of the site and are available upon request.
