The abundance of hemicellulose in plant cell wall component such as mannan suggests that their hydrolysis and conversion to biofuels can improve the efficiency of bioenergy production. To understand mannan hydrolysis by C. polysaccharolyticus at high temperatures, we characterized several genes involved in mannan utilization and determined the biologically relavance of these genes to mannan utilization by C. polysaccharolyticus using RNA-seq.
