Effect of dietary xenobiotics on gut microbiome composition - in vivo

Mapping of the effects of dietary xenobiotics on gut microbiome composition remodelling, how this relates to the metabolism of these dietary xenobiotics, and can explain interindividual differences in response to dietary compounds. This experiment was designed to assess community remodelling in mice in response to a dietary xenobiotic, polydatin. Germfree mice were colonized with human microbiome samples, derived from stool, named MV18 (mice 1-5) or MV20 (mice 11-15). Mice then treated with either PBS (Days 1-2) or Polydatin (Days 5-7). Fecal samples were collected three times daily at 0hr, 6hr and 9hr over the course of 6 days. 16S sequencing was performed.
