Genome-wide transcriptomic analysis of Plasmodiophora brassicae

Plasmodiophora brassicae, a plant pathogen, is thought to alter the defensive capabilities of host organisms through the secretion of small-secreted effector proteins. To identify these proteins, transcriptome profiling was performed through RNA-Seq data from Arabidopsis thaliana root tissues at 17, 20 and 24 days post inoculation with P. brassicae. Analysis of the RNA-Seq data then produced a list of highly expressed, small-secreted proteins from P. brassicae in the A. thaliana tissue that may be involved in modulation of A. thaliana cells to aid the pathogen''s colonization.
