1. This dataset is developed based on the MOD10A1 product of the MODIS Terra satellite. It synthesizes the maximum snow cover extent of each pixel within each hydrological year from 2000 to 2023, generating an annual maximum snow cover extent dataset covering the entire territory of China with a spatial resolution of approximately 500 meters.
2. Applicable scientific research institutions include universities, research institutes, enterprises and public institutions.
3. This dataset can reliably reflect the annual maximum spatial distribution of snow cover in China, providing a critical data foundation for long-term time-series snow cover change monitoring, hydroclimatic studies, and regional water resource assessment.
