PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LIFE VALUE SYSTEM IN OLDER ADULTS
收藏资源简介:
The system of life values in older adulthood represents a complex psychological phenomenon shaped by social experience, cultural traditions, individual beliefs, emotional adaptation, and spiritual orientation. In the context of modern Uzbek society, the study of psychological characteristics of the value system among elderly individuals acquires special scientific significance because demographic transformations, increasing life expectancy, and changes in family structures influence the emotional and social well-being of older adults. The process of aging is accompanied not only by biological and physiological changes but also by substantial transformations in worldview, social identity, and personal meaning structures. In older adulthood, individuals tend to reconsider previously important priorities and focus increasingly on family stability, spiritual harmony, interpersonal relationships, moral responsibility, and existential meaning. Psychological adaptation during aging depends greatly on the stability and flexibility of the individual value system. Elderly individuals who preserve meaningful life goals and maintain positive social interaction usually demonstrate higher levels of psychological resilience, emotional balance, and life satisfaction. Uzbek psychological and pedagogical literature emphasizes that traditional collectivist values, respect for elders, intergenerational solidarity, and spiritual continuity significantly influence the formation of value orientations in late adulthood. At the same time, modernization processes, urbanization, migration, and technological changes create new psychological challenges that may affect the emotional stability of older people and transform their value priorities. The article analyzes psychological factors influencing the formation and transformation of life values in older adults, including social adaptation, family relations, spirituality, loneliness, emotional regulation, self-perception, and cultural identity. Special attention is devoted to the role of Uzbek national traditions and educational approaches in maintaining psychological well-being among the elderly population. The article also discusses the relationship between value orientations and successful aging, demonstrating that meaningful social participation and spiritual engagement contribute positively to emotional health and psychological adaptation in later life.
