资源简介:
In this paper, we undertake a comprehensive examination of the predominant theoretical frameworks within the literature pertaining to the etiology of paranormal belief. A study was conducted aimed to develop an exhaustive model for comprehending paranormal beliefs through the analysis of variables that embody the primary theoretical frameworks discussed within the academic literature. We assessed a sample of 135 participants. Utilizing linear regression analysis, this research endeavored to identify the most significant predictors of paranormal belief. It was found that 61% of the subjects affirmed paranormal beliefs, with 54% reporting personal experiences of a paranormal nature. The findings highlighted subjective paranormal experiences as the foremost predictor of paranormal belief, with a standardized coefficient of .24 (p=.001). Other significant variables included openness (.22, p=.001), religiosity (.16, p<.014), unusual experience (.21, p=.003), impulsive nonconformity (.16, p=.022), need for achievement (.18, p=.007), and probabilistic reasoning (-.20, p=.003). These results support the view that paranormal belief is a multifaceted phenomenon influenced by several contributory elements. The proposed model indicates that the emergence of paranormal beliefs in individuals may result from one or several factors, highlighting the importance of context and the practical implications of harboring such beliefs.
