Original abundance of taxa and rarefied abundance of taxa.

This data was simulated to demonstrate how rarefaction can change the distances reported by the unweighted UniFrac metric. Originally, sample A contained 1075 counts and sample B contained 221 counts in total. Both samples were rarefied to 221 counts, twice. The OTU in bold has been rarified to a zero count in sample A for one instance and a non zero count in the other instance. In Rarefaction 1, the unweighted UniFrac distance (unshared over total branches) is 0.4175, while in Rarefaction 2 the distance is 1.12.
