Soil salinization is a serious problem affecting more than 1.6 million hectares of agricultural land in Vietnam. With the potential to control gene expression in plants at the post-transcriptional stage, miRNAs paves a potential avenue for research to enhance salt tolerance on rice in Vietnam. In this study, we want to use high throughput sequencing technology to make an in-depth assessment of miRNA expression in stem and root tissues of two constrating rice cultivar, Doc Phung - salt-tolernat cultivar and IR28 - salt-sensitive cultivar, under salt stress condition. The results of miRNA sequencing will assist the identification of a group of potential stress-responsive miRNAs and thier target genes, thereby providing a source of genetic information for future research.
