Phytoplankton and bacteria median cell sizes (CTD samples) by size fractionation filtration and flow cytometry in the mixed layer and the deep chlorophyll maximum during AMT29 (DY110) October-November 2019.

This dataset contains estimates of median cell diameter in micrometres. The groups for which cell sizes are estimated are divided into phytoplankton and heterotrophic bacteria. Phytoplankton groups sized are: Synechococcus sp., Prochlorococcus sp. (cyanobacteria), picoeuakryotes (smaller than 2 µm), and nanoeukaryotes (Neuk) (2-20 µm). Data were collected during research cruise AMT29 (October – November 2019). Samples were collected using a Seabird rosette sampler containing 20 L Niskin bottles and analysed within 3 hours of being taken and measured using a combination of size-fractionated filtration and flow cytometry. Data were collected and analysed by scientists at Plymouth Marine Laboratory.
