The effect of sulforaphane on the expression of microRNAs in colorectal adenocarcinoma Caco-2 cells and non-cancerous colorectal CCD-841 cells was investigated, in order to help ascertain the roles of microRNAs in the anti-cancer effects of sulforaphane. Overall design: Caco-2 and CCD-841 cells were treated for 8 or 24 h with sulforaphane or DMSO alone (control). Final DMSO concentrations were 0.05%. Total RNA was then isolated, and microRNAs were cloned as cDNA-based libraries. The libraries were then subject to deep sequencing.
