In
this work we describe the preparation of a new benzene–hexaimidazolylidene
ligand, which we have coordinated to silver and gold. The new complexes
constitute unique examples of cylinder-like macromolecular arrangements,
in which six metal atoms are sandwiched between two hexacarbene ligands.
