Land surface temperature products (1986-2023) of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau derived from Landsat series satellite data

The Qinghai Tibet Plateau has unique topography, atmospheric circulation system, and ecosystem diversity, making it an important national and ecological security barrier in China. Land surface temperature is an important land surface parameter with significant applications in ecological environment monitoring and change detection on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. Satellite remote sensing technology provides an effective way to obtain regional scale surface temperature information. The thermal infrared data of the Landsat series satellites have high spatial resolution and long-term data accumulation, providing an ideal data source for large-area and long-term surface temperature monitoring on the Qinghai Tibetan Plateau. Based on Landsat 5/7/8 series satellite data and practical single channel algorithm, long time series land surface temperature products of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau from 1986 to 2023 were produced. Spatial resolutions of the land surface temperature products are 60 m/100 m/120 m. Validation results based on HiWATER and land-atmosphere interactions datasets over the Tibetan Plateau show Root Mean Square Error of the Landsat land surface temperature products are 2.46 K and 2.92 K, respectively. The products include data file, quality attribute file, and metadata file, which can provide data support for research and application in the related fields such as resource investigation and ecological environment monitoring of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau.The DOI of the land surface temperature products over the Qinghai Tibet Plateau from 1980s to 2019 is https://doi.org/10.11888/Ecolo.tpdc.271537, and the DOI of the product in 2020 is https://doi.org/10.11888/Terre.tpdc.272304.
