In 2023, attendance at Artis Amsterdam Royal Zoo, also known as "Artis", grew over the previous year. Despite the annual increase, the number of visitors to the zoo remained below the figures recorded before the impact of COVID-19, reaching nearly 1.3 million in 2023. Another popular zoo in the Netherlands is the Diergaarde Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam. One of the oldest zoos in the country, it recorded around 1.4 million visitors in 2022.Attractions with the highest visitor numbersIn 2019, museums registered the highest share of visitors among all attractions in the Netherlands. Such institutions welcome approximately one-third of all visitors to entertainment and cutural attractions in the country. The Lovers Canal Cruises in Amsterdam was another very popular attraction, welcoming approximately 2.5 million tourists.
