Microbial consortia were cultivated from a hydrothermal chimney sample from the Prony Bay hydrothermal field, New Caledonia (Aiguille de Prony site). The consortia were grown in anoxic, hydrogen-fed bioreactors on different carbon sources to study microbial primary production in the system.
