Interview with Kyoung Lee Swearingen

Kyoung Lee Swearingen currently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Design and Moving Image Production at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, USA. Before turning to academia, she has spent over ten years in the animation industry. In the interview she talks about the creative process of image generation at Pixar Animation Studios where she worked as a Technical Director of Lighting for eight years. While at Pixar she participated in numerous productions including Ratatouille, Wall-E, UP, Cars 2, Toy Story 3, Brave, Monsters University, Presto, La Luna, The Blue Umbrella, Mater’s Tall Tales and Partly Cloudy. Swearingen also explains how she originally got to Pixar and how her experience there now influences her teaching.
