Rice plants were grown in the greenhouse until their late vegetative phase in the presence and absence of soil gypsum amendment to differentially stimulate sulfur microorganisms and to discern the effect of gypsum applied in agricultural settings. Responses of the microbial community in the rhizopshere and bulk soil compartment were followed by high throughput amplicon sequencing of the V6-V9 region of bacterial 16S rRNA genes.
