Aegiceras corniculatum (L.) Blanco, a pioneer species of mangrove plant, is a small tree or shrub, belonging to the genus Aegiceras in the family Peachiaceae. It is salt secreting mangrove species. Current research on the A. corniculatum has focused on community characterization, genetic diversity, and cultivation breeding. Moreover, questions about deeper adaptive mechanisms, genetic evolution are limited due to the lack of genomic data. In this study, we present a chromosome-level genome assembly, which is the first genome of the family Peachiaceae. The results not only lay a solid foundation for further phylogenetical and protective studies of A. corniculatum, but also benefits to the further exploration to its response mechanisms in adaptation to the harsh intertidal coastal environment.
