We aimed to explore the fate of endothelial progenitor cells (EpCs) in a mouse model of severe muscle acute injury where macrophage infiltration is compromised and endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition is induced. To this end, we characterized by Illumina RNA-seq technology the transcriptome profile of freshly sorted EYFP+ EpCs isolated from muscle of mice injected with cardiotoxin and then treated with liposomes containing clodronate (CLL, to induce macrophage depletion) or PBS (Sham, as control). Three independent replicates were sequenced for each condition (CLL and Sham).
