Adaptations of microbial communities and dissolved organics to seasonal pressures in a mesotrophic coastal Mediterranean lake

The study aimed to answer questions regarding the interconnection of lake microbial populations through the dissolved organic matter perturbation on a temporal scale. Investigated months were during the dry summer period when the intrusion of seawater happened, ending with the wet period characterized by rainfalls. Environmental conditions disturbed both the microbial community and dissolved organic matter parameters and had an influence on the abundance of bacterial putative metabolic functions involved in the organic matter degradation and photoautotrophy.
