Oil And Gas Wells

This dataset is regularly updated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management (DOGRM) to document and identify the location of oil and gas (OG) wells in Ohio. This dataset is updated as new OG wells are permitted, found and updated. OG wells are any borehole, whether drilled or bored, within the state for production, extraction, injection or exploration of any gas or liquid mineral, excluding potable water to be used as such, but including natural or artificial brine and oil field waters. Oil and Gas wells are drilled at different orientations to the surface. Below are the slants producers drill wells. The “Slant” field is available in the layer tables. Slant codes (Slant field) V – Vertical conventional well H - Horizontal well extracting from the Utica Point Pleasant or Marcellus formation D – Conventional well not vertically drilled to access a formation O – Other horizontal well drilled not to access the Utica Point Pleasant or Marcellus formation Wells by Type (Symbol) – Oil and gas wells symbolized by well type. Wells by Status (Active) - Active oil and gas wells and their statuses. Wells by Status (Inactive) - Inactive oil and gas wells and their statuses. Wells by Orphan Status - The statuses of oil and gas wells in Ohio’s Orphan Well Program (OWP). Within the OWP there are wells in the Traditional and Federal Programs and the Land Owner Pass Through Program (LOPTP).
