VPRS 14884 Pulpwood Reconnaissance Report

These reports are the product of a pulpwood reconnaissance conducted by Forests Commission Victoria in conjunction with Australian Paper Manufacturers Ltd. The reconnaissance was divided among parties. It is unknown how many parties there were; however reports are extant for Party No. 1 and Party No. 3.Party No 1 reported on Virgin Forest Areas. The purpose of its investigation was to determineif 40,000 cords of pulpwood was available on a permanent basis annually, being the minimum for which a plant would be established; andwhat was the quantity of pulpwood available on a sustained yield basis in excess of the above amount.The investigation referred primarily to Mountain Ash but did not disregard the associated species, namely Woollybutt, Messmate, Silvertop, Mountain Grey Gum, and other Stringybarks. The areas over which the investigation was to be carried out were the dedicated forests and Crown lands in Numbruk, Boola Boola and Tanjil East and Crown lands in Bundowra, and Tanjil, extending across to Hill End.Party No. 3 reported on Woods Waste and Mill Waste.
