This dataset supports the findings of the research article "Climate, Soil Texture, and pH Regulate Soil Carbon, Nitrogen, and Phosphorus Stoichiometry in Semi-Arid Sandy Lands of China". It contains the underlying data for soil organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) contents, along with key environmental variables from two major semi-arid sandy land ecosystems in Northern China: the Horqin Sandy Land (HSL) and the Hunshandake Sandy Land (HDSL). The dataset includes soil profile measurements from 0 to 100 cm depth across 123 sampling sites (53 in HSL, 70 in HDSL). For each soil layer, data on SOC, TN, TP, soil particle size distribution (coarse sand, medium sand, fine sand, very fine sand, silt and clay), and pH are provided. Additionally, site-specific climate data (mean annual precipitation - MAP, mean annual temperature - MAT) and vegetation index (NDVI) are included. These data were used to analyze the vertical and regional patterns of soil stoichiometry and to assess the hierarchical control of climate, soil texture, and soil properties on nutrient dynamics and elemental decoupling in these vulnerable ecosystems.
