We propose a new way to address crystal plasticity, which is based on the anisotropic strain broadening of diffraction peaks. The method is complementary to texture characterization and allows to determine the dislocation types and their distribution on different slip systems. A 3DXRD experiment is planned and combined with DCT and Scanning 3DXRD. The strain energy of single grains will be calculated based on the modified Williamson and Hall plot. The results can have important implications in unsolved problems of materials sciences, such as crystal plasticity, recovery and recrystallization. In the two letter phenomena strain energy is considered as the driving force.
