资源简介:
This is a replication dataset for the manuscript titled: "Persistent inflammation, immunosuppression, coagulation and altered cardiac biomarkers are associated with late post-discharge mortality in children recovering from complicated severe malnutrition." Despite standard of care, children in low-resource settings treated for complicated severe malnutrition remain at higher risk of mortality. Importantly, even after apparent clinical recovery, post-discharge mortality remains unacceptably high with about half of mortality occurring in during post-discharge period. We have previously shown that early post-discharge mortality (mortality within the first two months of post-discharge) was underpinned by sepsis-like profile and inflammation. However, it is not clear whether biological mechanisms underpinning later mortality (> 2 months post-discharge) as similar to those of early post-discharge mortality. In this study, we investigated systemic biological mechanisms associated with late post-discharge mortality in children treated for complicated severe acute malnutrition.
