Salmo salar kidney and spleen transcriptional response to natural SGPV infection

Salmonpox virus (SGPV) can cause acutely high mortality in pre-smolt Atlantic salmon due to damage to the gill surface which leads to reduced oxygen uptake. In some Atlantic salmon with SGPVD, it has been also seen pathological changes in the spleen and kidney. In this study, we examined fish from a field outbreak of SGPVD focusing on the transcriptional changes in the spleen and kidney.
