We have identified four new pathogens of C. elegans isolated from their natural environment of decaying apples in France that have unique effects on C. elegans physiology. As part of this study we will sequence and annotate the genomes of these as-yet-uncharacterized bacterial species as well as determine the molecular factors regulating C. elegans response to these various pathogens using a variety of genetics, biochemical, and systems biology approaches.
