Genome assembly of Populus nigra var. Italica along with complete gene and TE annotations.. Populus nigra var. italica genome assembly

We created a benchmark reference genome of Populus nigra var. Italica using an integrated approach. We combined the short read(10X + Illumina) and long read (Nanopore) sequencing technologies to create a contig level assembly followed by Hi-C scaffolding to create a semi-chromosome scale reference genome. The genome was further complimented with genes identified using the MAKER pipeline and annotated using Blast2GO. The Transposable Elements were also identified using the EDTA tool and further manually curated to create a much comprehensive library.
