The aplication of genome mining in Streptomyecs argillaceus allowed the identification of more than 30 biosynthesis gene clusters. The proteins encoded in cluster 11 showed similarity with some leinamycin biosynthesis proteins. The activation of this cluster 11 was carried out overexpresing one positive regulator and using a specific culture medium. This allowed to identify a lot of new compunds with a structure related to leinamycin.
