GEN regulates the gut microbiota composition in colitis mice

Genistein (GEN) is a natural polyphenolic compound widely present in leguminous plants, which has many biological functions such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, and has attracted attention in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, it is still unclear whether GEN can alleviate intestinal inflammation by regulating gut microbiota. Therefore, we used 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing to analyze the effect of GEN on the fecal microbiota of normal mice and DSS-induced colitis mice.
