This dataset contains analytical raw data, thermodynamic data generated using FactSage, and Python scripts used to process the raw data, perform kinetic analyses, and calculate particle residence times. The data underlies the PhD thesis <em>“Reduction mechanisms of goethite-rich iron ore fines under suspension smelting conditions" </em>(Delft University of Technology, Department of Materials Science and Engineering).The objective of this PhD study was to investigate the impact of hydrogen enrichment and ore mineralogy on the reduction behaviour and kinetics of iron ore fines under suspension smelting conditions. The experimental work was conducted using two main research equipment: a thermogravimetric analyser (TGA) and a high-temperature drop tube furnace (HTDF). The TGA was employed to investigate isothermal and non-isothermal reaction kinetics, while the HTDF enabled the study of reduction behaviour, particularly reduction degree and reduction kinetics, under controlled particle residence times.Within this framework, different iron ore fines suitable for the HIsarna® ironmaking process were selected as input materials. Their mineralogical, chemical, and physical characteristics were analysed to determine how variations in ore properties influence reduction behaviour. The study further assessed the effects of thermal decomposition and H2-enriched gas atmospheres on reduction mechanisms and kinetics, with particular emphasis on the role of mineralogy.
