Body size and bird community structure in coastal wetlands: an assessment of spatial scaling laws – Dataset and R scripts

This repository contains the dataset and R scripts supporting the manuscript entitled “Body size and bird community structure in coastal wetlands: an assessment of spatial scaling laws”. The dataset includes bird species records, body mass measurements, trophic guild classifications and wetland-level information from ten coastal wetlands in Mediterranean Chile. The accompanying R scripts reproduce the analyses conducted to assess two predictions derived from spatial scaling laws: (1) the relationship between adjacent species body-size ratios and body mass, evaluated using ordinary least-squares regression, Spearman's rank correlation and Fisher's combined probability method; and (2) body-size distributions of species richness, evaluated using linear, quadratic and generalised additive models, model comparison using AICc, weighted skewness and Fisher's combined probability method. The README file provides descriptions of the variables, analytical procedures and instructions for reproducing the results.
