Users can download data tables to gather information regarding risk factors associated with poor birth outcomes among low-income women. Background The Pregnancy Nutritional Surveillance System (PNSS) is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The PNSS gathers data on the nutritional and behavioral risk factors that are associated with infant mortality and other poor birth outcomes among low-income pregnant women in the United States. PNSS data includes: pre-pregnancy weight status, weight gain, parity, interpregnancy intervals, anemia, WIC enrollment, vitamin consumption, smoking, and drinking . User Functionality Users can view and download static data tables, which are organized by table number, health indicator and type of analysis. Data Notes Participants are low-income pregnant women who utilized federally funded maternal and child health and nutrition programs. Data sources include: Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and Title V Maternal and Child Health Program. Data is available in PDF and HTML formats. The latest data is available from 2009 and there is no indication as to when they will update the data.
