Share of people buying gold in Japan 2023, by age

Buying gold or items made of gold was more common among Japanese people in higher age groups, according to a survey conducted in January 2023. The majority of respondents aged 60 years and older stated that they had experience buying the precious metal or related items. By contrast, over 60 percent of young adults in their twenties had neither bought nor received gold.
