X-ray characterization of INTEGRAL Cataclysmic Variable candidates

From INTEGRAL and Swift surveys a significant fraction of hard Xray sourceswere found to be magnetic Cataclysmic Variables(CVs) of the Intermediate Polar(IP) type. Optical followups of virgul100 unidentified INTEGRAL sources show thatvirgul15% of the new detections have magnetic CVlike spectra. A timely question iswhether IPs provide an important contribution to the hard Xray sky and hencestill represent a hidden population of galactic Xray sources. We propose tocontinue our identification programme of newly discovered CVs, which are strongmagnetic candidates. The detection of Xray pulses and the study of their broadband Xray spectra will allow a firm identification of their nature and willprovide further insights in physics of this emerging class of accreting compact objects. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
