资源简介:
The Safe-working Department of the Victorian Railways (VA 2876) created this series. It recorded, using photographs, sketches and newspaper articles, the first major crash of the Spirit of Progress, which was derailed near Mittagong, NSW on 15 September 1969. The Spirit of Progress was the express train that operated between Melbourne and Sydney. In the accident, six carriages were derailed and 32 people were injured, though none seriously. The train was built in Victorian Railways workshops in Melbourne and came into service in 1937.Under each photograph an engineer has sketched the derailed carriage, reflecting the positions of the fallen carriage with the photographs image. In all there were ten photographs showing the derailed carriages from varying angles.
