Transition-metal-only quadruple perovskite oxide CuCu3Fe2Os2O12 (CCFOO) was synthesized under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. It crystallizes to a cubic Pn−3 space group with Cu+ and Cu2+ occupying A and Aʹ sites in 1:3 ratio and Fe3+ and Os5.5+ occupying the B and Bʹ sites in a rock-salt fashion. CCFOO experience a ferrimagnetic transition at TC = 300 K and exhibits a saturated magnetic moment as large as 5.8 μB/f.u. at 2 K. Therefore, it is a high-temperature strong ferromagnet holding potential applications. On the other hand, there are multiple magnetic cations in CCFOO thus the microscopic magnetic property is waiting to be investigated. With the help of the x-ray magnetic circular dichroic (XMCD) measurements, which is element-selective, we are able to figure out the spin and orbital moments for each magnetic cation as well as their alignment thus providing us an insight of the microscopic magnetic interactions in CCFOO.
