Low-coverage WGS dataset of the Tetrix japonica grasshopper complex

This study presents low-coverage whole-genome resequencing data for the Tetrix japonica species complex. The dataset comprises 26 specimens: 14 individuals from geographically distinct populations of Tetrix japonica; six corresponding to previously described taxonomic synonyms-two Tetrix qinlingensis, two Tetrix ruyuanensis, one Tetrix jiuwanshanensis and one Tetrix cenwanglaoshana; two from an as-yet undescribed, morphologically divergent lineage collected in Sichuan Province, China; together with two Formosatettix gonggashanensis, one Alulatettix wudangshanensis and one Formosatettix shennongjiaensis. The objective is to employ genomic evidence to delineate species boundaries, quantify genetic diversity and assess morphological plasticity within the Tetrix japonica complex.
