资源简介:
The project aims were: to assess the survival of vertical stratigraphy and to identify, locate and characterise waterlogged deposits and the degree of organic preservation in Berwick; assess if there is any correlation between survival and character of waterlogged deposits and underlying geology; assess factors influencing the survival of waterlogged deposits and effects of development and dewatering; assist in developing the appropriate responses to development management proposal where waterlogged deposits are anticipated. The main objectives were: to develop a simple methodology to ascertain the degree of organic preservation; create a predictive GIS-based model; enhance the HER; supplement the Extensive Urban Survey; identify areas where additional information is still required; develop a strategy to promote the preservation of waterlogged deposits for developments carried out as part of the planning system; understand the distribution and significance of waterlogged deposits; develop appropriate mitigation strategies for protection and recording of waterlogged deposits; gain a fuller understanding of significance and research potential; develop Settlement and Urbanism (Towns) recommendations set out in the North East Regional Research Framework; prepare a guidance note for planners, developers and archaeological contractors. The dataset contains the project report and GIS shapefile which data from all identified geotechnical and archaeological investigations in the study area. This includes information on the nature of the deposits, the presence or absence of waterlogged or organic remains, character, and date.
